A modern racer/cruiser, with an emphasis on racer, the Tartan 101 is fast, easy to handle, requires a minimum crew, and can easily serve as host to the family for a weekend.
The same quality construction you’d expect from every Tartan is included as standard. A prepreg carbon fiber mast, infused hull and deck, lead keel, and premium hardware give the boat lasting quality (as well as strength, and lightness).
Optimal Deck Design
On-deck she is very simple, with a carbon fiber tiller or optional wheel positioned far aft for outstanding handling. Immediately forward of the helm is a full width traveller (w/mainsheet) mounted on the cockpit sole.
With wide side decks and classic Tartan styling, she is unmistakably a Tartan racer/cruiser. However, from the back of the house aft, this Tartan 101 has undergone a transformation. A nearly 12’ long cockpit provides plenty of working room for the crew; molded braces provide secure seating for the driver and main trimmer located well clear of jib trimmers and forward crew.
Have it Your Way
She displaces a scant 8,100 lbs, yet has a comfortable interior. By eliminating liners in the forward and aft cabins, she remains light on both ends.
The main salon still offers a high end finish, complete with cherry woodwork. An ergonomic deck layout with a wide open cockpit and an easily handled sailplan eliminate the need for an army of crew and guarantee a smile on all those who sail her.
A functional interior meets the needs of overnighting and distance racing with ease while eliminating unnecessary weight, minimizing maintenance and providing maximum time devoted to enjoying the boat on the water.
When she is not on the racecourse, the forward end of the cockpit features molded cockpit seats and deep coamings that provide secure, comfortable seating in all conditions.
